You’ll meet active community leaders, learn about and share the community organizing happening in your area, and chat with MRG’s Executive Director, Sharon Gary-Smith. Snacks and the first round are on us.
Portland: Justice Social Happy Hour with Momentum Alliance

MRG’s Justice Social is a casual gathering for folks who care about social justice, and a chance to meet other passionate progressives in Portland! This month, we’ll discuss the impact of President Obama’s Deferred Action Program and the Supreme Court ruling on Arizona’s SB 1070– and what these mean in Oregon. You’ll hear from experts who are organizing at the local and national levels to promote immigrant rights.
Featuring Jaime Limon Guzman, founding board member of Momentum Alliance. Jaime is a young activist and community leader fighting for immigrant rights in Oregon and nationwide. Jaime also co-founded Oregon DreamActivist, an undocumented youth-led community organization.

Eugene: Peace and Pie in the Park!

Join friends and family for a summer party in the park with live music, great conversations, and great food– all to celebrate MRG and social justice grantmaking! Folks of all ages will enjoy this family-friendly event.
At Peace and Pie in the Park, you’ll meet community members, social justice organizers, and MRG supporters from all across Oregon. This year we’ll have delicious food from Navarro’s Latin Creole Kitchen and ALMA Catering, as well as music from Afro-Mediterranean fusion band Priyo & Gypsy Moon!
