Save the date for the social justice party of the year: Justice Within Reach!

We are excited to announce that Justice Within Reach will be on Friday, May 31, 2019 at The Redd in southeast Portland.  What is Justice Within Reach?  It is our annual party to raise funds that go to MRG Foundation’s grant-making pool, meaning more dollars toward social justice organizing.  Why else do we have Justice Within Reach? Because during times like these we need each other, and community, more than ever.  On this night, we put our party clothes on and celebrate all that is joyful about our communities, no matter what our struggles are outside of the room.

Justice Within Reach: Building Community

“I am so excited for this year’s Justice Within Reach event,” says Se-ah-dom Edmo, MRG’s Executive Director. “There are many organizations that do annual dinners, but Justice Within Reach is so much more. It is about building our community and lifting up the stories of our collective actions.  Together we are raising money for our grant pool and introducing new people to MRG Foundation.  I hope to see you there!”

Volunteers Make it Happen

MRG’s amazing Justice Within Reach committee is seeking more volunteers to help make this a night to remember.  Chairperson Monica Cho Brewer says “This is a great committee to be involved with to learn more about MRG and meet other people who care about social change. We have fun at our meetings and get work done too!”  Whether you can join the monthly meetings or just want to help with a task, please reach out to Monica and help her by filling out this form to indicate where your areas of volunteer interests may be.  Can you help make phone calls for donations?  Maybe you have a flair for decorating and ambiance creation is more your thing? Do you like to help the day of with specific tasks? No matter what your previous experience or time limits,  we have a job for you!

Many thanks to this year’s Justice Within Reach Committee members who have been meeting since March 2018 to get ready for this signature event: Bobby Fouther, Liz Fouther-Branch,  Pam McElwee, Maggie Rounds, Jeff Selby, and our terrific contractor that is coordinating this event, Emee Pumarega of EJP Events. This year’s financial goal is to raise $80,000 for MRG’s grant-making!
