MRG has awarded a $1,000 Travel Grant to grantee group the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign so that they can send leaders to facilitate a workshop at the U.S. Social Forum in Detroit June 22-26. The group's director and two displaced workers from Oregon will be leading a workshop on how to build and maintain powerful trade justice coalitions.
The U.S. Social Forum is likely to attract upwards of 15,000 activists from across the country. This event will give Oregon Fair Trade Campaign the chance to connect with other fair trade activists and with allies from other social justice movements as they share the lessons they're learning from their work here in Oregon.
MRG awards thousands of dollars in Travel Grants each year to current grantees. Travel Grants enable grantee groups to create national and regional connections and to develop the leadership and skills needed for effective organizing.
