Travel grants help MRG grantees make national and regional connections and develop the leadership and skills needed for effective organizational development and organizing.

The maximum single grant award is $1,000.  Pending availability of funds, each group can apply for more than one travel grant per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) - but the total amount received in any fiscal year cannot exceed $1,000.

Summary of Funding Criteria

1. To be eligible for an MRG Travel Grant your group must have received an MRG General Fund or Peace Fund grant since September 1, 2007.
2. Your grant request must be for travel to a regional or national conference or training, OR to bring an outside trainer in to train your group on a skill or topic needed for effective organizational development and organizing.Your group’s annual operating budget must be under $500,000.
3. Travel must be within the United States.

Timeline Information

Travel grants may be applied for at any time, as long as money is available in the fund. However, the application must be received at the MRG office at least three weeks before the travel date.  The Grantmaking Committee’s decision-making process takes two weeks following the receipt of your completed application form. Please plan accordingly.
