Lilla Jewel Fund for Women Artists

The Lilla Jewel Fund for Women Artists promotes the work of women artists, particularly women of color and queer women, and increases our grantees’ use of art as an effective organizing tool by:

  • Inspiring our grantees to see the potential of adding art as an organizing tool
  • Using art that especially reflects the struggles and vision of marginalized communities including people of color, queer or low income people
  • Providing grantees with access to women artists who will help them create artistic tools and teach them how to create tools on their own in the future
  • Supporting grantees to make great use of the tools

For 2009-2010, we are proud to announce a call to women artists for a special project: MRG Foundation will commission three women artists to each create a new piece of art that represents Oregon's social justice movement. This project will entail conversations with MRG grantees and an Art Committee. The new works, as well as previously created pieces, will be exhibited at MRG's annual event, Justice within Reach, on Saturday, April 10, 2010. To learn more about this, check out the Call for Women Artists we issued in September, 2009.
